In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities have arrested Kalyan Bainsla in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. Bainsla is the motorist accused of pursuing and ramming his vehicle into a female motorcyclist on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road on Saturday, 13th September. The incident involved biker Shivani Chauhan, widely recognized across digital platforms as Sia, whose high-impact road crash triggered immense public outcry after onboard camera recordings of the collision surfaced and circulated rapidly online.

Bainsla had remained untraceable and on the run immediately following the collision, prompting the Gurugram Police to organize dedicated search teams to track down his whereabouts. Following an in-depth review of the viral video evidence and upon evaluating the formal representations submitted by Sia and her family members, the Gurugram Police formally upgraded the charges against the driver to include attempt to murder. According to investigative updates reported by The Hindu and India Today, the stricter legal provisions were invoked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after forensic and technical verification of the street-level recordings.

According to the sequence of events detailed by Sia, she was traveling along the thoroughfare alongside a group of fellow motorcyclists when Bainsla’s car began trailing her. She noted that upon signaling and asking the occupants of the car to keep a safe distance, the vehicle accelerated sharply toward her two-wheeler, colliding directly into its side. The force of the vehicular impact threw her violently off the seat, causing her to slide across several meters of the asphalt surface before coming to a halt.

Sia Strongly Counters Bainsla’s Explanation

The arrest followed shortly after Bainsla presented his own account of the event, in which he claimed the collision was entirely unintentional. Bainsla, who operates a fitness gym and describes himself as an international kabaddi competitor, claimed: “I did not hit them intentionally.” Expressing remorse during his statement, he added: “I felt very sorry for that girl.”

Bainsla defended his actions by alleging that a group exceeding 20 motorcyclists was operating aggressively along the corridor, frequently overtaking his vehicle, reducing their speed directly in front of him, and creating erratic traffic conditions. He maintained that he was accompanied by his family inside the car and felt that pulling over immediately after the crash would have placed them at risk of physical violence from the surrounding riders. Explaining his position, he stated: “I was travelling with my family. I didn’t make any gestures at the young woman; I simply asked her to ride her bike slowly. I admit that a collision occurred. Had I stopped right then, those people would have beaten us up.”

He further contended that he was completely unaware a female rider was operating the motorcycle, claiming that Sia made an abrupt maneuver near an upcoming U-turn, which left him with inadequate braking distance or reaction time. Bainsla also asserted that the videos circulating online were misleading compilations assembled from disparate recordings.

Sia categorically rejected each of Bainsla's arguments during her first comprehensive public statement regarding the crash. Addressing his interview remarks directly, she stated: “The entire video demonstrates who was pursuing whom. Even if he believed that the bikers were frequently altering their speed, it did not grant him the right to chase me down the road.”

She also dismissed his assertion that he could not identify her as a female rider, pointing out the clear visual markers visible from behind. “This is absolutely untrue. He noticed my long plaited hair from behind. He saw that, chased me, asked me to stop the car, and now he declares that there were 22-23 people involved, questioning why only two videos are being presented. Are these two videos insufficient?” she argued.

Digital Recordings Under Active Police Investigation

Sia cited two distinct video recordings as clear proof that the collision was an intentional act rather than an accidental sideswipe. Breaking down the camera perspectives, she asserted: “It is quite evident in one of the clips that you directly entered the third lane from the first lane and struck me, then fled the scene. The other front video recorded from my camera shows you changing lanes and colliding with my bike. I have been dragged and thrown off the road by you. Are two videos not enough proof?”

She further scrutinized Bainsla’s decision to drive away without offering any immediate roadside assistance. Emphasizing the severe safety risks involved, she remarked: “It was your duty to stop and check if I was injured after you struck me. A mere delay of two to three seconds could have led to far more serious injuries, including multiple fractures. I could have died instantly.”

The case was originally registered by the police under statutory provisions governing rash driving and causing hurt. However, upon a thorough frame-by-frame review of the digital footage and the surrounding circumstances, investigating officers officially added the charge of attempt to murder to the First Information Report. While Sia escaped with minor physical injuries, the recorded camera evidence remains the centerpiece of the ongoing investigation.
