"मोदी का बाप भी जाएगा, माँ भी जाएगा": Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sparks a massive political storm in Patna, Bihar, after a chaotic misunderstanding with his own supporter makes him shout a highly derogatory remark about PM Modi's father

In a recent political development that has generated significant controversy, the opposition has once again directed personal remarks at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this time involving his late father. The incident unfolded on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Patna, Bihar, when Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was addressing a large public gathering. The event was organized to commemorate the 139th birth anniversary of Dr. Krishna Singh, the first Chief Minister of Bihar.
The situation took an unexpected turn when a commotion broke out in the audience. A man interrupted the Congress President's speech, shouting, “…Modi kahin jayega [Modi won’t go anywhere]”. This declaration, which implied that the Prime Minister would continue to lead the nation, immediately caught the attention of the speakers on stage. Assuming the man was a passionate supporter of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kharge became visibly frustrated. Staring down at the crowd in anger, the Congress President yelled back, “Modi ka to baap bhi jaega”, which translates to "Not just Modi, even his father will have to go."
Continuing his criticism from the stage, Kharge went on to label the Prime Minister a liar, telling the crowd, “Modi has a habit of lying. He falsely promised the people of the country to bring back black money”.

Misunderstood Congress Supporter Sparks Chaos at Patna Event
Immediately after the exchange, chaos erupted at the venue. Believing the heckler was a political rival, angry Congress supporters jumped on the man, physically assaulting him. Videos circulating across news platforms show the crowd aggressively thrashing the man and forcing him out of the event grounds.
However, in a surprising twist, it was later revealed that the man, identified as Santosh Kumar, was not a BJP supporter at all. He was actually a loyal Congress worker whose words had simply been cut off by the noise of the large crowd. Speaking to the media after being thrown out, a bruised Santosh Kumar clarified that his statement was entirely misunderstood. He explained, “Unless the public revolts, Modi will not go”.
During the scuffle, Kumar had tried desperately to clear up the confusion. He told reporters that he was screaming at the top of his lungs, “Narendra Modi has done nothing for the country in 12 years as PM! The whole country is now rising against him! We need a massive public revolt!” Unfortunately for him, his attempts to explain his stance went in vain, drowned out by the angry mob.
The fallout from this chaotic incident has quickly spiraled into a massive political storm. The Congress President is now facing intense backlash from ordinary citizens, BJP workers, and top officials, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who condemned the frustrated personal attacks against the Prime Minister.
Taking legal action, a local BJP worker named Krishna Kumar Singh has officially filed a police complaint against Kharge at the Kotwali Police Station in Patna. Because the actual event took place in a different area, authorities are currently transferring the case to the Gandhi Maidan Police Station. Through his complaint, Singh is demanding a formal, public apology from the Congress leader within 24 hours for the derogatory statements made about the Prime Minister's family.

A Track Record of Controversial Statements Against the Prime Minister
This recent episode in Bihar is not an isolated event. Over the years, leaders within the Congress party have repeatedly directed highly personal and derogatory remarks toward Prime Minister Modi.
For instance, during a 2023 public address in the Gadag district of Karnataka, Kharge himself compared the Prime Minister to a deadly reptile, stating, “Modi is like a poisonous snake. Don’t try to lick this snake to check whether it is venomous or not. If you taste it, you are dead”.
Going further back to 2017, senior Congress figure Manishankar Aiyer sparked nationwide outrage when he insulted the Prime Minister using a casteist slur, calling him a “neech kisam ka aadmi”. The intense public backlash forced the Congress party to temporarily suspend Aiyar from his primary membership and issue a show-cause notice. While Aiyar offered an apology and was eventually brought back into the party, he later defended his harsh words in 2019, claiming his description of the Prime Minister had been completely accurate.
The attacks have also targeted the Prime Minister's late mother. Just last year in September, during the build-up to the Bihar Assembly elections, the state's Congress unit shared an AI-generated video. The clip depicted an animated version of PM Modi falling asleep and being scolded in a dream by his late mother, Heeraben, who angrily accused him of exploiting her name for political advantage.
A month earlier, in August of last year, another ugly incident took place during a joint Congress-RJD rally in Darbhanga, Bihar, organized by Congress leader Mohammad Naushad. From the main stage, an individual hurled terrible abuses at the Prime Minister and his late mother, using vile slurs such as “Maderchod”*. Following massive public outrage, Mohammad Naushad was forced to issue a public apology on behalf of the speaker.
Similarly, in 2018, Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya, who was a Congress Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Rajasthan at the time, publicly mocked the Prime Minister and hurled extremely vulgar insults at him during a massive rally.
Looking closely at these documented events, a clear and consistent timeline emerges. It highlights a track record of Congress politicians resorting to harsh personal abuses against PM Modi. Observers suggest that the party’s ongoing frustration over repeated electoral losses often manifests in the form of such foul-mouthed political discourse.
