“White coats, dark links”: Delhi blast probe widens as a Pathankot surgeon and multiple Al Falah University doctors linked to Umar Nabi are detained after a 2900 kg explosive haul and a NAAC notice triggers nationwide scrutiny

Investigating agencies have taken into custody a doctor based in Pathankot, Punjab, for questioning in connection with the recent Delhi blast, police sources confirmed on Saturday. The detained individual is a 45-year-old surgeon who has served at a private medical college and hospital in Pathankot for over two years.

Prior to his current role, he worked at Al‑Falah University in Faridabad district of Haryana — the very institution linked to the prime suspects in the so-called “white collar terror module” case, according to sources. On Friday, law-enforcement authorities also detained two doctors from Haryana’s Nuh district in relation to the case. One of them, after completing his MBBS course, “did his apprenticeship at the Al Falah University … His apprenticeship ended on November 2,” and the other, a former student of the university, was employed at a private hospital in Nuh.
Earlier, on Monday, agencies had exposed a “white collar terror module” with connections to the militant groups Jaish‑e‑Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat‑ul‑Hind, operating across Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. They seized approximately 2,900 kilograms of explosive substances and apprehended eight individuals, including three doctors linked to Al-Falah University. Hours later, a powerful blast tore through a car moving slowly in the crowded area near Delhi’s Red Fort station, killing 13 people and injuring many others. A DNA test established that the car was driven by Dr Umar Nabi, an assistant professor at the university. Beyond the eight arrested, several others have been held for questioning following these events. Investigators say the main suspects used a Switzerland-based encrypted messaging app to plan and coordinate activities tied to the terror conspiracy.

Two Al-Falah University Doctors Among Three Detained by Delhi Police in Terror Module Case
The Delhi Police has detained three suspects, including two doctors from Al-Falah University in Haryana, who were acquaintances of Dr Umar Nabi, the driver of the exploded vehicle in the Red Fort case. According to officials, “the detentions were made during coordinated raids conducted on Friday (November 14, 2025) night by the Delhi Police Special Cell and central agencies in Haryana’s Dhauj, Nuh, and adjoining areas.”
“We detained two Al Falah University doctors — Dr Mohammad and Dr Mustakim — from Nuh,” said the sources, adding they were allegedly in contact with Dr Muzammil Ganaie, already arrested in connection with the broader probe of the “white-collar” terror module, and were close friends of Dr Umar Nabi. Initial interrogation revealed that one of them was in Delhi on the day of the blast, having come to the capital to appear for an interview at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Further questioning of Dr Mohammad and Dr Mustakim is under way to determine the scope of their relationship with Dr Ganaie and any potential role in the larger conspiracy.
“In a parallel operation in Nuh, investigating agencies detained another man, identified as Dinesh alias ‘Dabbu’, for selling fertilisers without a licence. It is being probed if his activities extended beyond illegal trade,” said the officials. Earlier investigations indicated that members of the terror module had gathered around ₹ 26 lakh and spent about ₹ 3 lakh purchasing NPK fertiliser, which can be used to manufacture improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Police are investigating whether Dinesh sold fertiliser to the accused. Separately, officials said, “Dr Shaheen Sayeed, another Al Falah University doctor arrested in connection with the terror module case, had recently applied for a passport.” “Police verification was conducted for her application on November 3 at room number 29 of the university hostel, and officers also photographed her as part of the routine procedure,” officials added. Agencies are examining whether her application is connected to the ongoing investigation.

Al-Falah University Website Takes Down After NAAC Notice
The website of Al-Falah University in Faridabad was taken down on Thursday (November 13, 2025) after the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) issued a show-cause notice to the institution for continuing to display a false accreditation claim. The action followed revelations that the occupant of the car which exploded near the Red Fort on Monday (November 10, 2025) was a junior doctor from the university. According to the NAAC’s notice, the university continued to advertise its colleges as holding Grade A certification even though the accreditation had expired. The notice stated that the two colleges — Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology and Al-Falah School of Education and Training — had been certified as Grade A in 2013 and 2011 respectively, but these certifications were valid only until 2018 and 2016, and the colleges failed to volunteer for assessed renewal. The council described the university’s claims as “absolutely wrong and misleading the public, especially the parents, students, and stakeholders.”
Although apart from Umar Nabi, two other doctors from the university were arrested in connection with the case, the university has distanced itself from the accused, stating they were its employees but not connected to the alleged wrongdoing. In its show-cause notice the NAAC asked the university why it should not be disqualified from future assessments, why action should not be taken to revoke its recognition with the University Grants Commission (UGC), National Medical Commission (NMC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The university was asked to respond within seven days and to immediately amend its website to reflect that the NAAC accreditations had expired, and to report this back to the authority.
