In an absolutely thrilling announcement that marks a new chapter in the history of Maharashtra, the government, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has declared the renaming of two major infrastructural marvels in the state. The Versova-Bandra Sea Link, a magnificent architectural feat, has now been christened as Veer Savarkar Setu, in honor of the valiant freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

Furthermore, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, another significant infrastructure project, is to be known henceforth as the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, paying tribute to one of India's most revered Prime Ministers.
The renaming represents a heartfelt salute to two colossal personalities who have left indelible marks on India's socio-political fabric. This decision is indeed a momentous occasion, echoing with the resonant legacies of these two great luminaries.
Adding to the pride and excitement of this announcement, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also shared that the limit of the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, a vital health initiative, would be increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This uplifting development, aimed at bettering the lives of Maharashtra's residents, further showcases the government's commitment to public welfare.
In a phenomenal stride towards economic progress, the Cabinet has greenlit multiple investment proposals amounting to a whopping Rs 40,000 crore. These strategic investments promise to create employment opportunities for around 1.2 lakh people, thereby boosting the state's economy and bettering countless lives. The Chief Minister jubilantly declared Maharashtra's return to the top spot in FDI, a testament to the immense potential the state possesses.
In a prior announcement made on the birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar, Shinde had expressed his intentions to dedicate the Versova-Bandra Sea Link to the late freedom fighter. He had also stated his plans to establish state-level gallantry awards in Savarkar's name, mirroring the prestigious awards given at the Central level.
The Veer Savarkar Setu, still under construction, is an infrastructural titan that stretches a staggering 17.7 km across the Arabian Sea, connecting the city's western suburbs to the mainland. The monumental project, expected to cost around Rs 7,000 crores, signifies the relentless pursuit of progress and connectivity in Maharashtra.
These infrastructure projects are not just about constructing physical structures; they are about building connections, enhancing accessibility, and fostering economic growth. They are a testament to the government's commitment to improving the city's infrastructure and making travel more convenient for its residents.
These historic renamings are more than just a change of nomenclature. They symbolize the immortal legacy of Veer Savarkar and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, serving as constant reminders of their contributions to the nation. This news, as expected, is met with immense pride and joy, forever etching this day in the annals of Maharashtra's illustrious history.
