The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Mahboob Alam, also known as Mahboob Alam Nadvi, on Saturday (14th September). He was serving as the Bihar state president of the banned Islamic fundamentalist group, the Popular Front of India (PFI). The arrest took place in Kishanganj; Mahboob Alam lives in the Hasanganj area of Katihar district, Bihar. He is the 19th person out of 26 suspects named in the Phulwarisharif criminal conspiracy case of 2022 to be arrested and chargesheeted.

On 12th September, the Supreme Court asked why the ban on firecrackers is applied only in the Delhi-NCR region and not across the whole of India. The question was raised by a bench consisting of Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran while hearing a petition filed by firecracker traders. These traders are challenging the year-round prohibition on manufacturing, selling, and using firecrackers in Delhi NCR.
