Bangladesh in fear as another Hindu is killed, 18-year-old Kamdeb Das found dead in a pond in Badalpur village of Habiganj, days after Dipu Chandra Das was lynched in Mymensingh over blasphemy claims

The body of a young Hindu man was discovered in Badalpur village under the Ajmiriganj subdivision of Habiganj district in Bangladesh on Saturday morning, 27th December. The victim was identified as 18-year-old Kamdeb Das, who had been missing since Thursday. The discovery has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of Hindu minorities in the country.

According to Tripura Info, Kamdeb Das was the son of Vishnupada Das and Durga Rani Das. When Kamdeb did not return home, his worried family searched for him but found no trace. After hours of uncertainty and fear, his father approached the Ajmiriganj police station and filed a missing persons report. Despite the complaint, it was reported that no search operation was launched by the police to locate the missing teenager.

On the morning of 27th December, at around 9 am, local villagers noticed a body floating in a nearby pond. The sight immediately caused panic in the area. As people gathered, they identified the body as that of Kamdeb Das. Soon after, the police were informed. Officers arrived at the location and sent the body to Ajmiriganj hospital for post-mortem examination. Reports stated that Kamdeb’s body had visible strangulation marks, pointing towards a violent death.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Badalpur village, which has a Hindu population of around 15 percent. Hindu families in the area are gripped by fear and anxiety. Many residents are deeply shaken, worried about their safety, and uncertain about what the future holds. The atmosphere in the village remains tense, with panic spreading among the minority community.
This disturbing incident comes just days after another brutal attack on a Hindu man in Bangladesh. Dipu Chandra Das was lynched and set on fire over allegations of blasphemy in Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh district. That horrifying incident took place on the night of 18th December in the Dubalia Para neighbourhood of Square Master Bari. Together, these incidents highlight a growing sense of fear among Hindu communities and underline the continuing violence they face in different parts of the country.
