Bangladesh: Threat Poster Against Minorities Found in Chattogram Raises Fears of Planned Mass Violence

A deeply alarming development has emerged from the Chattogram district of Bangladesh, where a disturbing conspiracy targeting religious minorities has come to light. The incident has created widespread fear and anxiety among Hindu and Buddhist communities, who already feel vulnerable due to repeated attacks in recent times. The discovery of a threatening poster has intensified concerns about their safety and raised serious questions about law and order in the region.

According to a report by The Sunday Guardian (https://sundayguardianlive.com), a poster recovered from Raozan upazila in Chattogram makes an extremely serious claim. It states that a plan was allegedly made to kill nearly two lakh people belonging to the Hindu and Buddhist communities on 13th December, 2025. The poster further claims that funds had already been arranged to carry out these killings, pointing to what appears to be a well-organised and carefully planned conspiracy rather than an isolated threat.

Kushal Barun Chakraborty, a representative of the Bangladeshi Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote, confirmed that the banner was removed by law enforcement soon after it was discovered. Referring to the incident, he said, “The police took the banner with them.” His statement highlights that the authorities have acknowledged the seriousness of the matter, though concerns remain about what steps will follow.

The content of the poster itself is chilling and explicit. It read: ‘On 13th December, 2025, a plan was hatched and funding was provided to implement this plan. The plan and funding were aimed at killing a total of two lakh followers of the Hindu and Buddhist communities in Raozan subdistrict of Chittagong. No sign of the Hindu and Buddhist communities will be left in Raozan, they will not be allowed to remain’. The message openly warned that no trace of Hindu and Buddhist communities would be allowed to exist in the area, underlining the extreme nature of the threat and the clear intent to eliminate these groups.

Chakraborty also spoke about the broader pattern of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, stating that such attacks have not stopped. Referring to recent incidents, he said, “First, Dipu Chandra Das was lynched in Mymensingh and now, another Hindu youngster, Amrit Mondal, has been killed. While the government and the police have termed him a criminal, the question is, how did a Muslim man who was arrested remain alive while Mondal, a Hindu, get killed?” His remarks reflect growing frustration and suspicion within minority communities regarding unequal treatment and a lack of accountability.

According to Chakraborty, the wording used in the poster clearly shows an intention to systematically target Hindus and Buddhists. He stressed that recent violent incidents in and around the same area make the threat even more serious. He emphasized the urgent need for a fair and independent investigation so that the truth can come out and those responsible can be brought to justice without bias or delay.

The location where the poster was found adds another troubling layer to the case. It was discovered in the same locality where several Hindu homes were set on fire in recent days. During their investigation, police reportedly recovered kerosene-soaked pieces of cloth from the sites of arson, suggesting deliberate planning behind the attacks. Handwritten notes were also found, which reportedly contained names and mobile numbers of political leaders and administrative officials, raising further questions about possible links or influence.

Police have confirmed that they have seized the poster along with other materials connected to the case and have begun an investigation to verify the claims and identify those behind the alleged conspiracy. As the probe continues, fear has spread among minority communities in the region. Many are now demanding strong and immediate action, along with concrete protection measures from the authorities, to ensure their safety and prevent any further escalation of violence.
