Attempted rape of a 19-year-old girl in Ujjain; she was stuffed into a sack and beaten after she screamed, leading to her death

A horrifying case of violence involving a19-year-old minor girl has emerged from the Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The accused in this case is a young Muslim man from the same neighborhood, who allegedly tried to sexually assault the girl. When she resisted and began screaming for help, the situation turned brutally violent.

To silence her, the accused reportedly forced her into a sack and beat her repeatedly with a club. The attack was so severe that the girl lost consciousness. Later, when her family started searching for her, the accused brought her back and falsely claimed that she had fallen from the roof. The girl was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, first in Khachrod and then referred to Ratlam, where she ultimately died during treatment.

According to the information received, the incident took place on Sunday. As it was a school holiday, the girl had come along with her two sisters to their grandmother’s house, located in a village under Khachrod tehsil of Ujjain district.

At the time of the incident, the grandmother and the elder sisters were sitting on the roof of the house, while the girl was playing outside. When she did not return for a long period, the grandmother grew concerned and asked one of the sisters to go and look for her. Despite searching nearby areas, the girl could not be found. As time passed, anxiety increased, and other family members joined the search.

During this period, a neighbor identified as Riyaz Khan brought the girl back from his house in an unconscious state. He told the family that the girl had fallen from the roof. However, the family immediately noticed alarming signs that raised serious doubts about his claim.

The girl’s face was badly swollen, and she had visible injuries on her head, nose, and eyes. Blood was also seen coming out from her wounds. Realizing the seriousness of her condition, the family rushed her to the hospital in Khachrod. After examining her, the doctors referred her to Ratlam due to the critical nature of her injuries. She was then taken to Ratlam for advanced treatment, but despite medical efforts, she died on Monday.

Police investigations later revealed disturbing details about what had actually happened. According to the police, the girl was playing outside her grandmother’s house when the neighbor took her inside his own house.

There, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. When the girl resisted, screamed loudly, and tried to escape, the accused became furious. He pushed her, and when she continued screaming, he locked her inside a sack and attacked her multiple times with a club. After the assault, believing that the girl had died, he left the house.

Sometime later, the accused returned and found that the girl was still breathing. In an attempt to cover up the crime, he took her to her grandmother’s house and made up a false story, claiming that she had fallen from the roof.

Khachrod SDOP Akanksha Bichhote stated that after discussions with the doctors, it became clear that the injuries were not consistent with a fall from a height. Instead, they were caused by repeated blows from a heavy object. Following this medical confirmation, the police deployed a dog squad and a forensic team to Riyaz’s house to collect evidence related to the crime.

As the investigation progressed, police began treating Riyaz as the main suspect and subjected him to questioning. Under strict interrogation, he eventually broke down and confessed to his actions.

The accused admitted that no one else was present in the house at the time of the incident. Seeing the girl alone, he attempted to commit the crime. When she screamed, he pushed her, causing her to fall and lose consciousness. He then placed her inside a sack and beat her with a club, leading to the fatal injuries that ultimately claimed her life.
