According to a source from the Press Trust of India (PTI), the decision to send air conditioners was made after discussions with the Indian Olympic Association and the French Embassy. The source emphasized, “Taking into consideration the issues faced by athletes at the Olympic Games village because of the temperature and humidity in Paris, the Ministry of Sports decided to provide 40 ACs in the Games Village rooms where the Indian athletes are staying.”

Paris has recorded temperatures reaching as high as 40 degrees Celsius, and the accompanying high humidity has compounded the difficulties faced by visitors. The absence of air conditioning in the athletes' rooms had exacerbated an already challenging situation, potentially affecting their performance and recovery.

The portable AC units, described as plug-and-play, have already been installed and are in use by the athletes. These units are expected to significantly improve their comfort, allowing them better rest and recovery amidst the ongoing games.

Arjun Babuta’s performance, while impressive, was overshadowed by his public dissatisfaction with the lack of support from his home state's government. Despite achieving significant milestones in his sporting career, Babuta pointed out that he has not received any substantial support or recognition from the Punjab government. Babuta's dissatisfaction stems from unfulfilled promises made by high-ranking officials in Punjab. "I have not received any benefit from the state government. In 2022, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and then Sports Minister of Punjab Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer promised to offer me a government job. I have also written a letter in this regard also but in reply, I was told to wait…It is very disappointing and I hope they will look into it as job security is very important," Babuta stated. His comments reflect a broader issue of administrative delays and unmet commitments that have left him and potentially other athletes in a precarious position regarding their professional futures.

The shooter also noted the ongoing challenges he has faced with governmental support over different administrations. "I demanded the same from the previous Congress government in Punjab. Governments are changing but the demand remains the same…The hope is slowly fading away," he said. "The Chief Ministers of different states cheered and met the shooters from their respective states who participated in the Olympics. But nothing was done by the Punjab CM and Punjab Sports Minister for the shooters from Punjab…They didn’t even welcome us at the airport. If they blame for the decline of sports in Punjab, the ministers of Punjab have a big role in it,” he remarked. This lack of recognition and support at even basic levels, such as a welcome at the airport, showcases the neglect that athletes from Punjab are experiencing, which Babuta believes is contributing to the decline of sports in the state.
