"हम दो, हमारे दो दर्जन": AIMIM’s Shaukat Ali triggers a massive UP storm by urging Muslims to produce 24 children as Allah's gift for national power, while harshly attacking SP leaders and blaming Congress for historic riots

A significant political controversy has erupted in the state of Uttar Pradesh following provocative statements made by Shaukat Ali, the state president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). While addressing a public gathering in Moradabad on February 9th, the leader made strong assertions regarding population growth that have since triggered intense debate. His commentary has drawn sharp criticism from opposing political factions and ignited a widespread conversation across social media platforms regarding demographic politics.

‘Hum Do, Hamare Do Dozen’ Chant Raised at Rally
During his address to the assembled crowd, Shaukat Ali introduced a controversial new catchphrase for his party, proclaiming, “Hum Do, Hamare Do Dozen.” Speaking from the podium, he actively encouraged the Muslim community to expand their families, arguing that increasing the number of children would directly contribute to the progress and fortitude of the nation.
He addressed the common anxieties regarding demographic shifts, noting that while many people express concern over the growing Muslim population, he views the situation differently. In his assessment, a larger population is a key ingredient for a nation's power. To validate his argument, he pointed to the example of China, suggesting that its massive population is a primary factor behind its dominance and strength on the global stage.

Offspring Termed as Divine Blessings from ‘Allah’
Delving into religious sentiments, Shaukat Ali emphasized to the audience that children are not a burden but are, in fact, a divine blessing from Allah that should be embraced without hesitation or fear. He advised the gathering that families should continue to welcome children for as long as the Almighty provides them.
He further illustrated the value of this blessing by referencing those who are unable to conceive, noting that their plight highlights why those who can have children should cherish the opportunity. Reiterating his central theme, he insisted that a rising population should not be viewed through a negative lens as a problem to be solved, but rather as a clear indicator of strength and vitality.

‘I Have 8 Kids, My Sibling Had 16’
To bring a personal touch to his political stance, the AIMIM leader shared details about his own family structure. He revealed to the audience that he is a father to eight children. He also mentioned his late elder brother, who had an even larger family with 16 children.
Expanding on his family tree, he noted that his 97-year-old mother is the matriarch of a massive family, boasting approximately 72 grandchildren. He described these grandchildren as young and tall, using them as evidence of a thriving lineage. He questioned the prevailing panic and urgency surrounding population control measures, pointing out a perceived hypocrisy. He noted that the very same voices advocating for population control often simultaneously advise Hindu families to increase their birth rates. He went on to suggest that even having 14 children would be beneficial for strengthening the country.
Ali then turned his attention to certain Hindu leaders who, despite remaining unmarried themselves, counsel other Hindus to have four children. Addressing this contradiction directly, Ali stated:
“Why 4? We ask our Hindu brothers to produce 14 children, because it will help make the country stronger. But the leaders who advise others should first themselves get married and produce children.”

Comments on Riots Under Congress Rule
Shifting the focus to historical grievances, Shaukat Ali touched upon the history of communal violence in India since Independence, specifically targeting the tenure of Congress-led governments. He presented stark figures to the crowd, alleging that out of approximately 50,000 riots that have occurred, nearly 90% involved Muslims as the primary victims.
He further claimed that since Independence, roughly 2.25 lakh Muslims have lost their lives in these conflicts. He urged those who frequently speak about justice, law, and governance to examine these grim statistics closely before making claims about the safety and fair treatment of minorities over the decades.

Verbal Assault on Samajwadi Party Chiefs
The AIMIM leader did not spare regional rivals, launching a direct political attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP). He specifically named Kamal Akhtar, the Kanth MLA and former cabinet minister, alleging his involvement in the sale of liquor within Moradabad. He insinuated that it is public knowledge who operates establishments such as the Ghazal Bar.
Shaukat Ali highlighted what he sees as a double standard, pointing out that while SP leaders are allegedly linked to the liquor business, they have the audacity to accuse AIMIM of acting as the "B-team" for the BJP, a common accusation used to discredit the party’s independence.
Allegations Regarding Lynchings and Safety Issues
Raising serious concerns about the current state of law and order, Shaukat Ali spoke passionately about the threat of mob lynching and the general safety of the Muslim community. He alleged that violence is being systematically perpetrated by provoking mobs.
Furthermore, he claimed that the atmosphere has become so hostile that even women associated with Hindu organizations have begun misbehaving with Muslims. He highlighted specific instances of harassment faced by Muslim girls in public spaces, including the forcible removal of their hijabs, painting a picture of a community under siege.
Anxiety Over Seminaries and Community Fear
In the final segment of his speech, Shaukat Ali addressed the status of madrasas in Moradabad. He noted that while several hundred madrasas have expanded their operations over the years to provide education, they continue to be unfairly branded as hubs of terrorism.
He claimed that the administration has closed down around 100 madrasas in the district, a move that has significantly heightened fear within the community. He described a pervasive sense of insecurity, stating that Muslims now feel unsafe even when using public transport like trains or buses. He cited humiliating incidents where individuals have had their beards pulled in public, underscoring the daily indignities and fear faced by the community.
