From a seven-year bond to a quiet engagement, how Delhi-based creative Aviva Baig and photographer Raihan Vadra, son of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, prepare for a private Rajasthan wedding away from politics

Raihan Vadra, the son of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and businessman Robert Vadra, is preparing to formalise his long-term relationship with Aviva Baig. After nearly seven years together, the couple reportedly got engaged at a quiet and private family gathering held on Sunday.
According to a report by NDTV, the engagement ceremony was deliberately low-key and attended only by close family members from both sides, reflecting the family’s preference for keeping personal milestones away from public attention. The event marked an important moment for the Gandhi–Vadra family, even though no official announcement has been made yet.
People familiar with the matter have indicated that the relationship has the complete approval of both families. Preparations are already underway for a more detailed celebration, which is expected to take place in Ranthambore, Rajasthan. While the exact dates have not been confirmed, the wedding itself is likely to happen in the coming months. So far, neither the Gandhi family nor the Vadras have issued a public statement regarding the engagement or wedding plans.
Who is Aviva Baig?
Aviva Baig is a Delhi-based creative professional who comes from a family that has long shared a close personal association with the Vadras. She is the daughter of businessman Imran Baig and interior designer Nandita Baig. Nandita Baig is known for her work with the Congress party and has contributed to several interior design projects, including the party’s Indira Bhawan headquarters. This family connection played a role in Aviva and Raihan crossing paths early in life.
Aviva and Raihan reportedly studied at the same school, and what began as a school connection gradually grew into a relationship that has now lasted nearly seven years. She completed her schooling at Modern School in Delhi and later went on to study Media Communication and Journalism at OP Jindal Global University in Haryana.
Although Aviva has formal training in interior design, following in her mother’s professional footsteps, her interests extend far beyond that field. She has built a strong creative identity of her own as a photographer and producer. Her work has been featured at well-known art platforms, including the exhibition You Cannot Miss This at the India Art Fair in 2023 and The Illusory World in 2019. Her photography often explores social themes, showing a clear interest in storytelling and social impact through visual art. In addition to her creative achievements, Aviva is also a former national-level football player, adding another dimension to her diverse background.
Who is Raihan Vadra?
Raihan Vadra received his early education at The Doon School in Dehradun, continuing a long-standing family tradition. His grandfather Rajiv Gandhi and uncle Rahul Gandhi also studied at the same institution. After completing school, Raihan pursued higher studies in politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
From a young age, Raihan showed a strong inclination toward visual art. Over the years, he has developed a distinctive style in photography, working across wildlife, street, and commercial genres. In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition titled Dark Perception at Bikaner House in New Delhi. The exhibition carried deep personal meaning and was influenced by a serious eye injury he suffered during a school cricket match in 2017.
Speaking earlier to NDTV, Raihan explained how that experience reshaped his artistic outlook. “I started doing a lot of black-and-white shoots after my eye accident; it changed the way I perceive things. I use darkness to seek light,” he said. He has often spoken about the encouragement he received from his mother, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in pursuing photography, while also drawing inspiration from the photographic work of his grandfather, Rajiv Gandhi.

A relationship shaped by shared creative passions
People close to the couple describe their bond as one that grew naturally through shared interests in art, photography, and creative expression. Their mutual involvement in visual storytelling and artistic work has been a steady foundation of their relationship over the years. Recently, Aviva shared a photograph with Raihan on her Instagram account and later added it to her highlights. This small but noticeable update sparked widespread speculation about their engagement, which was soon confirmed by sources familiar with the developments.
Although many details about the upcoming celebrations remain private, the engagement event in Rajasthan is expected to span two to three days and may take place in early January 2026. As news of the engagement continues to circulate, public interest has increasingly focused on the creative lives of both Raihan Vadra and Aviva Baig. Despite belonging to a high-profile political family, the couple has largely chosen to stay away from the political spotlight, allowing their personal and creative journeys to define them instead.
