"Justice may have a long road, but it misses no turn": NIA apprehends dreaded gangster Vikram Brar, post his deportation from UAE, this remarkable achievement disrupts underworld activities and is a testament to international cooperation in justice

In a decisive move aimed at cracking down on the interwoven web of terrorism, organized crime, and smuggling, India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently made a significant arrest. They apprehended Vikramjeet Singh, more popularly known as Vikram Brar. He's a key figure associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster currently serving time in jail. The capture of Brar came immediately after he was deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India.

The NIA, exhibiting a commendable act of transnational cooperation, dispatched a team to the UAE with the specific mission of ensuring a smooth deportation process. With the joint efforts of the Indian and Emirati authorities, Brar was transported back to his home country, marking a significant achievement in the fight against criminal networks.
Vikram Brar has a rather notorious reputation and has been connected to multiple crimes, making his capture a cause for celebration and relief. His charges include involvement in the high-profile assassination of Sidhu Moosewala, a well-known Punjabi singer. Moreover, he has been linked to numerous targeted homicides of innocent people, extortion operations, and smuggling of weapons within the Indian territory.
Brar, originally hailing from Rajasthan, has been closely working with Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and several others. From the UAE, he operated as the nerve center for the communication, financial dealings, and logistical planning for the criminal operations of the Bishnoi gang. In this role, he was instrumental in bridging the gap between the gang and Khalistani terrorists. His illicit activities had caught the attention of Interpol, which led to the issuance of a global warrant for his arrest.
The NIA investigations revealed that the proceeds from their extortion operations were laundered to multiple countries, including Canada, the United States, Dubai, Thailand, and Australia. This widespread network of funds transfer was designed to support their international operatives. A disturbing revelation from the NIA's probe is the close association between the gangsters and Pro-Khalistan elements (PKE).
Brar's association with Lawrence Bishnoi is rooted in their time as university friends at Panjab University in Chandigarh. Together, they would later become notorious for their involvement in various crimes such as extortion, murder, and attempted murder. Brar was not just an accomplice but a key facilitator for the terror activities orchestrated by the Bishnoi syndicate in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. His crucial role also extended to liaising between the gang and the Pro-Khalistan elements or PKEs.
Decisions regarding potential targets for extortion and murder were made jointly by Bishnoi and his Canada-based associate, Satinder Singh, known as Goldy Brar. It was this pair who allegedly orchestrated the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022.

According to the NIA, the alliance of these elements presents a formidable challenge to security forces. Together, the Khalistani sympathizers, gangsters, and their handlers from Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), constitute a powerful network with vast resources, including personnel, logistical support, and an established operational ecosystem.
Their crimes are not limited to high-profile political assassinations but extend to drug smuggling, extortion, and supply of a wide range of weaponry sourced from across the border. These include tiffin bombs, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), RDX explosives, and pistols.
The NIA, undeterred by these daunting challenges, has been steadfast in its mission to dismantle this dangerous nexus. The recent arrest of Brar is a significant milestone in this ongoing struggle, and till date, the agency has arrested a total of 16 individuals connected to this terror-gangster conspiracy.
The investigations continue as the NIA is committed to breaking down the dangerous alliance between terrorists, gangsters, and drug traffickers, and to obliterate their intricate infrastructure, including their funding channels.

These recent victories of the NIA underscore the agency's unwavering commitment to maintaining national security. In the past few months, the agency has successfully brought back five 'wanted' fugitives to India. This has been possible due to the seamless coordination with central intelligence agencies and continuous engagement with foreign authorities.
The apprehension and subsequent deportation of Vikram Brar is not just a victory for India's law enforcement agencies, but it is a testament to the country's unyielding stance against transnational crime. The arrest signifies a victory for the Indian people, a signal that the country remains committed to preserving peace and security for its citizens. This moment also stirs up a sense of national pride as it marks the relentless pursuit of justice, showcasing that no matter where a criminal may hide, they cannot escape the long arm of the Indian law.
